Pianist Omar Khairat receives Al-Ahly Club shield from its President Mahmoud El-Khatib
The presentation took place 20 October at the Arab Music Institute in Cairo during the club’s celebration in honour of two iconic symbols in the world of Egyptian sports, former club president Hassan Hamdy and President of the Handball International Federation Hassan Mostafa.
El-Khatib presented the great pianist and composer Omar Khairat with his award after he finished playing a collection of his mesmerizing musical pieces.
Also attending the ceremony were Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhy, President of the Egyptian Shooting Club Captain Mohsen Tantawy, member of Ahly’s Planning Committee Captain Zakaria Nassef, businessman Gamal El-Garhy as well as Brigadier General Mohamed Morgan.
The club’s board of directors, headed by El-Khatib, awarded Hamdy the necklace in appreciation of his service to the club, which includes more than 50 years spent as player, manager, supervisor, member of the board of directors, treasurer and agent of the club, vice-president and then president of the club from 2002 to 2014.
