Indian ambassador launches Glimpses of India painting contest

At Al Horriya Park in Cairo, Ambassador of India Ajit Guptih inaugurated the 26th edition of the annual “Glimpses of India” painting competition organised by the Embassy of India in Cairo, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, from 12 to 14 December in Cairo as well as a number of Egypt's governorates.

The competition is held annually to celebrate the deeply rooted ties between India and Egypt and to engage with Egyptian youth.

Indian ambassador Guptih praised the level of the students of the participating schools and the talents that emerged through the artworks that they created. Nearly 1,500 students were present at Al Horriya Park.

On 12 December, the competition was held at the Child Centre for Civilization and Creativity in Heliopolis and the Orman Park in Giza, in addition to Al Horriya Park.

On 13 December, it was organized at the Teachers Club in Tanta city, Al-Gharbia governorate, and the Zagazig Military Secondary School in Sharqia governorate.

The competition will conclude on Wednesday 14 December at Lycée El-Horriya School in Alexandria and the Hamed Gohar Official Languages School in Hurghada, Red Sea governorate.

The competition was held for three age groups: 6-12 years (Primary), 13-15 years (Preparatory), and 16-18 years (Secondary). Thousands of students from various government, private and national schools participated in the competition just like in previous years.

The jury which selects the winners is consisted of specialists in the field. The winners will be honoured in an award distribution ceremony to be held in Cairo.
