Cameroon celebrates 51 st unity anniversary

Cameroon’s celebration this year coincides with the 60 th anniversary of the Organization of African Unity

On the occasion of the 51 anniversary of its unity, Ambassador of Cameroon in Cairo and dean of the African diplomatic corps, Dr Mohamadou Labarang, held a celebration, on 20 May.

In it, he stressed that this day represents the consolidation of national unity and integration among the spectrums of the people belonging to one nation, despite the ethnic diversity representing 280 different ethnic groups.

Labarang added, “The dispatch of the deputy foreign minister to celebrate the National Day of Cameroon reflects the extent of Egypt’s interest in strengthening the distinguished historical relations between the two countries.”

The slogan of the celebration was under this theme, “The defense forces and Cameroonian people in solidarity for peacekeeping and national unity are the basis of a prosperous Cameron.”

Cameroon’s celebration this year coincides with the 60th anniversary of the Organization of African Unity.

For his part, Ambassador Hamdy Louza, deputy foreign minister for African Affairs, said that Cameroon’s celebration this year coincides with the 60th anniversary of the Organization of African Unity, which calls for vigorous efforts to overcome the challenges facing the continent as the Cameroonian president said in order to achieve the vision of the African Union.

 

Loza explained, “The slogan of the celebration must be carried by all African countries, especially Sudan which is going through difficulties that threaten its unity, stability, and prosperity.”

The celebration was attended by several members of the diplomatic corps, and included a presentation of Cameroon’s most delicious food along with a folkloric performance.
