The exhibition, which took place at the Russian Cultural Centre in Dokki under the sponsorship of the country’s embassy in Cairo, ended on 17 June.

It featured the participation of a Russian artistic delegation headed by Daria Karacheva, the founder of the Diplomacy in the Eyes of the Artist project. Her works are displayed in the Kremlin and a number of Russian churches.

She was joined by Olga Smirnova, a member of the Fine Artists Union in Russia and a professor of art history; Mikhael Rakov, a member of Russia's Union of Writers; and Artor Mirozian, an artist and film director; and artist Tatiana Dvoryadkna.

The exhibition included a number of paintings by modern Russian artist Alexander Smirnov, a member of the Russian Academy of Arts and recipient of the Golden Medal of Arts. His works are on permanent display at the State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow, which is considered the foremost depository of Russian fine art in the world, and at the Russian Foreign Ministry.

The Russian delegation had been participating in a long visit to Cairo and Alexandria, where they painted many pieces that depicted the unique Egyptian architectural style, especially in the old neighborhoods and historical palaces. One such palace was the Russian House Palace in Alexandria, which is considered one of the most beautiful palaces in the city.

The Russian artists also visited popular neighborhoods in these cities and interacted with their residents.

Karacheva emphasized that the creations of the Russian artists show how Egyptian civilization has been a source of inspiration and creativity for Russian arts.

The Russian artists dedicated a number of their paintings to the Museum of Islamic Art in Cairo, within the framework of supporting joint cultural cooperation between Egypt and Russia.
