This year's anniversary will be celebrated on 26 August.

The event was attended by representatives of scientific, social, political, and educational circles from Russia and Egypt and journalists from both countries.

The conference discussed over two plenary sessions the cooperation between the two countries in foreign policy, trade, economy, and investment while focusing on the major projects between Russia and Egypt, including constructing Egypt's first nuclear power plant in the city of Dabaa and establishing the Russian industrial zone in the Suez Canal economic zone.

The Chargé d'Affaires of the Russian Embassy in Egypt Yuri Matveev delivered the welcoming speech in which he emphasized the nature of the historical friendship between Cairo and Moscow, which has gradually strengthened over eighty years, reaching the level of strategic partnership.

Matveev referred to the significance of the relations between the two countries, which were established at the height of World War II when the whole world had united to confront enslavement and extermination at the hands of the Nazis.

He also expressed his hope that this conference would give added impetus to strengthening the friendship between the two peoples.
