Chairperson of Al-Munawer Foundation for Development Suzanne El-Nagar receives the grant from Japanese ambassador Oka Hiroshi

On Thursday 23 November, Oka Hiroshi, the ambassador of Japan to Egypt, and Suzanne Maher El-Nagar, chairperson of Al-Munawer Foundation for Development, signed a grant contract for Japanese Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (KUSANONE). The $102,323 grant assistance was extended by the embassy of Japan to the foundation with the purpose of providing an appropriate education for mobility-disabled children and improving the safe educational environment in Cairo.

This is the first collaboration between the embassy of Japan and the Al-Munawer Foundation for Development.

At the signing ceremony, Ambassador Hiroshi expressed his hope that the project will be successful, bring a smile to children's faces, and contribute to supporting the Egyptian government’s efforts to promote inclusive education. He also expressed his respect for the role of Egyptian NGOs and his willingness to continue working with them to provide assistance to as many local residents as possible through the implementation of KUSANONE.

El-Nagar also expressed her deep appreciation for KUSANONE’s support and her commitment to the project. She also highlighted that this project is a reflection of extended historical relations between the peoples of Japan and Egypt.

KUSANONE provides direct and small-scale financial support to non-profit organizations including non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in local communities.

Japan has extended approximately $10 million in Egypt since 1994, supporting 177 projects throughout Egypt in many sectors including education, health, water and sanitation, vocational training, women empowerment, and special needs support.
