Egypt and Pakistan enjoy historical relations based on strong foundations of common faith, cultural affiliations and aspirations, and commitment to transforming this relationship into a permanent partnership, Ambassador Bilal noted, during the reception held by the Pakistani embassy in Cairo on this occasion.

The two countries are working to achieve a comprehensive agenda for cooperation in politics, trade, investment, defense, energy cooperation, and deepening people-to-people ties through increased educational and cultural exchange, Bilal added.

The year 2024 witnessed the 76th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries. Substantial interactions took place between the leadership of the two countries, as the foreign ministers of both countries met on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.

In international multilateral forums, the two countries support each other on many international and regional issues.

The event was attended by Mahmoud Esmat, minister of the public business sector, Ambassador Ahmed Shaheen, assistant foreign minister for Asian affairs, and members of the diplomatic corps of several countries.

Ambassador Bilal spoke about economic cooperation and trade relations, which have remained a distinctive feature of bilateral relations.

Bilateral trade between the two countries reached $400 million, and Pakistan’s investments in Egypt reached $400 million in 2023, Bilal added.

He also highlighted the success of the Trade Opportunities Conference between Pakistan and Egypt in September 2023.

Moreover, the fourth Pakistan-Africa Trade Development Conference and the Single Country Exhibition in Cairo in January attracted more than 250 Pakistani companies and 150 participants from businessmen in the Middle East and North Africa region.

"Bilateral relations are witnessing the strengthening of defense cooperation. Pakistan participated with great force in exercise ‘Bright Star 2023’ and Defense Exhibition EDEX-23, and as I speak, both sides are participating in a Special Forces counter-terrorism exercise," said Ambassador Bilal.

The Pakistani ambassador pointed out the two countries' cooperation in the field of education, seeking to explore new avenues of cooperation.

He added that Urdu, the national language of Pakistan, is taught in six universities across Egypt, and Pakistani students study in Egyptian universities.

In addition, the presence of Egyptian professors at the International Islamic University in Islamabad is another indicator of the rich cooperation between the two countries in the field of cultural exchange, the ambassador continued.

"Pakistan is a country blessed with enormous potential and opportunities, as it is the fifth largest country in the world in terms of population and located at the intersection of South Asia, Central Asia, and the Middle East, where Pakistan is a popular market for trade and investment,” Bilal said, praising the multiple steps taken to enhance the ease of doing business.

"Business and Modernization of Governance Structures in Pakistan have established a Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) to bring all stakeholders on one platform. SIFC is an investor-friendly system that avoids unnecessary delays and provides easy terms and conditions for investment and business in Pakistan especially in agriculture, IT, mining, metals, and energy sectors," Ambassador Bilal stressed.

Bilal concluded: "We stand today and we feel proud of Pakistan, which has achieved exceptional achievements despite huge challenges, played a decisive role in solving the problems facing humanity, and contributed to achieving world peace."

He expressed his appreciation to the active Pakistani community living in Egypt for building bridges and strengthening Pakistani-Egyptian relations.
