Awladna foundation holds annual Ramadan iftar celebration

The Awladna (Our Children) Foundation for the Arts of People with Special Abilities held its annual Ramadan iftar celebration on Saturday in the presence of children receiving cancer treatment at Hospital 57357.

Soheir Abdel-Qader, head of Awladna foundation, welcomed the children and their families during the opening ceremony.

The celebration was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Social Solidarity,

Attending the Iftar party were visual artist Ashraf Reda, VP of Awladna and CEO of the Arts Complex at Helwan University; musician Nabil Ali Maher, member of the foundation’s board of trustees; together with Mervat Abu Ouf, professor of mass communication at AUC; and Haitham El-Hajj, former president of the General Book Authority.

They were joined by Denis Bronnikov, deputy director of the Russian cultural centres in Egypt; Sherif Gad, director of cultural activity at the Russian Cultural Centre in Cairo; Marina Sheveliova, Belarus embassy counsellor; Mikulich Mikita, attaché of the Belarus embassy; artist Ahmed Farid; and Adel Abdo, former head of the folk arts sector.

The Ramadan evening turned into a night of love for Abdel-Qader, as children with special abilities and their families came with flowers and symbolic gifts to congratulate her on the success of her recent surgery and express their appreciation for the role played by the Awladna foundation in their lives.

Hospital 57357 is Egypt’s largest pediatric cancer hospital.

The Awladna foundation is preparing to launch the eighth edition of the International Forum for the Arts of People with Special Abilities in September 2024, which will be held under the slogan “Tomorrow is Better for Us.”

The upcoming round will celebrate heroes with autism and honour examples of them who have proven their excellence in society. Actors starring the TV series "A Special Case", who succeeded in shedding light on those suffering from autism, will also be honored.
