Turkish, Egyptian cuisines are among oldest cuisines in Middle East: Turkish ambassador

Turkish Ambassador to Egypt Salih Mutlu Şen received the foremost Egyptian journalists who attended the Turkish breakfast held at the headquarters of the Turkish embassy in Cairo, as part of the activities of the Turkish Cuisine Week (21-27 May).

The Turkish Cuisine Week is organized under the leadership of First Lady Emine Erdogan, wife of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. ‎

In his opening speech during the breakfast, Ambassador Mutlu Şen said that Turkish and Egyptian cuisines are among the oldest cuisines in the Middle East and have influenced each other throughout history.

He added that Egyptians love Turkish cuisine and its popular dishes very much.

‎The ambassador also stated that every single region and province in Turkey is distinguished by its unique products.

The breakfast menu, included in the Turkish Cuisine Week activities, was prepared from the cuisine of the Aegean region this year, he noted.

Moreover, Ambassador Mutlu Şen said that a healthy and delicious modern Turkish breakfast, consisting of items such as olives, olive oil, tomatoes, yogurt, eggs, vegetables, cheese, and baked burek, is a meal suitable for the requirements of modern life and offers a delicious alternative.

He added that health experts and doctors emphasize the importance of starting the day with a healthy breakfast to live an active and productive life, away from heart disease.
