The event, held at Al-Horreya Park and organized in collaboration with the Jeevan Vigyan Foundation, brought together diplomats, members of the Nepali community, representatives of civil society and business, and Egyptian media.
Nepal’s ambassador to Egypt, Sushil K. Lamsal, said the initiative coincided with Nepal’s role in advancing the global recognition of meditation. He noted that Nepal was among six countries that initiated the United Nations resolution declaring 21 December as World Meditation Day, which was unanimously adopted by the United Nations (UN) General Assembly in December 2024.
“As a land of yoga and meditation, Nepal continues to draw upon the wisdom of its ancestors, which continues to inform and shape the everyday lives of its people”, Lamsal stated.

“The most sensible way forward is to introspect and explore the depth and meaning of being human, as the answers to many of our problems lie within our own selves, the perennial source of peace, harmony, and healing,” he added.
The meditation session was led by Santosh Khadka, an instructor with the Jeevan Vigyan Foundation, who guided participants through breathing and self-awareness exercises focused on relaxation and mental clarity.
The programme concluded with a presentation by Indira Gohiwar Aryal, Nepal’s Deputy Chief of Mission in Cairo, on Nepal’s growing profile as a destination for health and wellness tourism. The event was attended by Second Secretary Ritesh Shah and Third Secretary Gajendra Rai, who coordinated the session.
