Egypt's fashionistas and couture experts were treated to the latest in wedding fashion and style at Cairo's Semiramis Intercontinental hotel this weekend.

Over two days, the third edition of Our Wedding Carnival featured ten live shows from prominent names in the industry, with the participation of over 100 exhibitors.

Prominent makeup guru Mohamed Abdel Hamid demonstrated how to airbrush makeup, while hair stylist Kriss showcased different hair styles.

Alexandria-born designer Bahig Hussein exhibited his Dancing with the Stars collection: "The collection is inspired from the most popular dances throughout history," he said.

Lebanese designer Hadi Katra made her debut at the wedding carnival with a collection marked by simplicity, glamour and creativity.

The Spanish wedding dresses of Rosa Clara, however, were romantic and flattering.

“We have newly entered the Egyptian market, and we believe we have a great opportunity to position Rosa Clara as a leading wedding gown brand,” said Rosa Clara retail and expansion director Elena Tends.

Syrian fashion designers Antar and Lahmouni celebrated the intricacy and finesse of Syrian embroidery in their creations.

Also on show were Walaa Amin's debut collection for Blanche Maison de Couture, and Egyptian designer Marie Louis' newest designs.

Sponsor Jumia, an online shopping hub, reminded attendees that they offered a one-stop-shop to ease the stress of brides-to-be.

Sponsor L'Oreal showcased a new product they say has been customised for Arab women called "Extraordinary oil range".

Fire shows by Ahmed Essam and tunes by DJ Khaled Abdel Rahman entertained the attendees throughout the two-day spectacle.

The event ended with the announcement that Our Wedding Carnival would cover the wedding expenses of ten orphan brides, in collaboration with non-governmental organisation Lifemakers's Benebny Hayah (lit. "We build life") project.

The project aims at reconstructing and developing poor villages in Egypt by working on developing their infrastructure, as well as improving the lives of their inhabitants.

The first Our Wedding Carnival was launched in 2013.
