Egypt: 2014 Orange Bike Day, an initiative from the Dutch embassy, will take place this Friday, 7 November. It includes a cycling tour of Zamalek and aims to encourage a healthier lifestyle in our fast-paced city, using bikes as a cheaper and less polluting transportation alternative.

The event has been a big success in its first two years. Last year over 900 people turned up, most of them wearing orange – the colour of the Netherlands, who sponsors the bike ride.

Participants are invited to arrive at 8am for tea and coffee. The ride starts at 9am and lasts until 10:30am. There will be drinks and snacks afterwards.

Participation is free, just bring your bike or rent from a limited number that will be available on site.
