One-hundred percent of non-organic muesli samples analysed contained pesticide residues, a survey conducted by the French Association Future Generations concluded. Findings of the survey were published by the daily Le Parisien on Tuesday.

Fifteen packages of non-organic muesli with fruit and five bio were analysed by a laboratory and the results left little doubt.

In non-organic products (Auchan fruits and fibers, Nestlé Fitness 5 fruits or Kellogg's All fruit'fibres brain) 141 pesticide residues were found of which 81 are suspected of being endocrine disruptors.

Endocrine disruptors are chemicals that, at certain doses, can interfere with endocrine or hormone systems. These disruptions can cause cancerous tumours, birth defects, and other developmental disorders.

The average concentration of 0.177 mg / kg of chemical residues quantified by sample, according to Future Generations is 354 times the "maximum allowable concentration tolerated in drinking water for all pesticides", reported Le Parisen.
