Sir Magdi Yacoub to be honoured by Zayed Award for Human Fraternity

The Zayed Award for Human Fraternity selected Professor Sir Magdi Yacoub as one of its honorees for the year 2024.

This prestigious acknowledgement is a tribute to his unwavering dedication to providing life-saving medical care to the most vulnerable members of society, according to a press release issued by the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity.

It also acknowledges Professor Yacoub's significant contributions, including establishing the Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation in Egypt.

The announcement of Professor Yacoub's selection was made during a press conference held in Abu Dhabi.

The award ceremony is scheduled for 5 February at the Founding Zayed Monument in Abu Dhabi.

Professor Yacoub, 89, is a world-renowned professor of cardiothoracic surgery at Imperial College London.

He is the founder of the Magdi Yacoub Institute at Harefield Heart Science Centre in the UK.

In 2008, Professor Yacoub established the Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation to provide free medical services to underprivileged individuals and offer scientific, medical, and nursing training.
