Egypt s Bent Pyramid in Dahshur
Waziri clarified that the iron bars, which have been a subject of discussion, were installed in the northwestern corner of the pyramid in 2014 to strengthen and preserve this section of the pyramid.
Built by King Sneferu, the visionary founder of the Fourth Dynasty, the Bent Pyramid's distinct inclined shape has fascinated visitors for centuries. Initially designed with an angle of approximately 55 degrees, the architects later adjusted it to 43 degrees as the structure soared to greater heights, creating its appearance today.
The Bent Pyramid is named after the noticeable change in angle that occurred during construction.
Despite the adjustments, the king's designers built a new pyramid, the Red Pyramid, at a short distance. The Bent Pyramid's first angle suggests a transition phase between King Djoser's step-pyramid design in Saqqara and the subsequent smooth-faced pyramids.
The Bent Pyramid has two entrances, one on the easily accessible north side via modern wooden stairs, and the other elevated on the west side.
Each entrance leads to a chamber with a corbelled roof, showcasing the gradual effect. The northern entrance chamber is below ground level, while the western entrance chamber is positioned higher within the pyramid's structure.
