The historic aqueduct in the Cairo Citadel (also known as the Saladin Citadel) is a medieval aqueduct system in Cairo.
It was first conceived and built during the Ayyubid dynasty, founded by Saladin (Ṣalāḥ al-Dīn), who ruled the country in the late 12th and early 13th centuries AD.
The system was later reworked by several Mamluk sultans to expand the provision of water to the citadel.
