All archaeological museums in Egypt will be open to visitors free of charge on 22 October as part of the Ministry of Antiquities' celebration of 150 years of Egyptian parliamentary life.

"Making visits [to museums] free of charge is one of the ministry's steps towards raising the people's cultural and archaeological awareness," Mostafa Amin, secretary-general of the Supreme Council of Antiquities said.

Amin also announced that the parliament building is listed on the country's heritage list as an Islamic monument in accordance with ministerial decree 1237 of 1986.
