Book Alert: Lecture on 'Black and White in Arabic Literature' at AUC

A lecture titled “Black and White in Arabic Literature,” will take place at the American University in Cairo campus on Saturday, 19 March.

The lecture will be delivered by Egyptian novelist Mohamed Mansi Qandil, author of Black Battalion (Al-Shuruq, 2015), which was long-listed for the International Prize for Arabic Fiction in 2016, and Sudanese writer Hamour Ziada, author of The Longing of the Dervish (Dar Al-Ain, 2014) for which he won the Naguib Mahfouz Medal for Literature in 2014.

The speakers will discuss representations of slavery and black and white love in the two novelists’ most recent literary works.
