Egyptian Armed Forces Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Mohamed Farid attended the main stage of the military training project ‘Fateh 2021’, which was executed by a unit of the Southern Military Region.

The training, which lasted several days, was conducted in cooperation with various army branches and came within the framework of the annual plan of combat training for the formations and units of the armed forces, according to a statement issued on Tuesday by Egyptian Armed Forces Spokesman Tamer El-Refaie.

The main stage of the project included demonstrating procedures taken during preparations for battles and mobilising the main force to execute the planned tasks.

The main stage included setting plans to clear one of the Red Sea islands and a border village from infiltrated terrorist elements.

It also included executing atypical firing with live ammunition.

The participating elements have shown “high combat skills and accuracy in executing the planned and emergency tasks with high efficiency,” the spokesperson said.

Farid reviewed the manner of executing the assigned tasks with a number of commanders and officers participating in the exercises.

He also “raised for discussion some emergency tactical scenarios to ensure the unit's ability to make the correct decision in facing acute and rapid changes during the course of the battle,” the spokesman said.

Farid met during the exercises with a number of commanders, officers, non-commissioned officers, and soldiers from the Southern Military Region.

He conveyed to the participants greetings from President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, the supreme commander of the Armed Forces, as well as Minister of Defence Mohamed Zaki.

Farid also greeted the participants on the occasion of the start of the month of Ramadan, listened to their opinions and inquiries, and discussing with them local, regional, and international issues, the spokesman noted.
