Egypt’s Prosecution referred on Tuesday a doctor and his wife to criminal court for kidnapping six minor girls and sexually assaulting them in his private residence and clinic.

The prosecution accused the Doctor and his wife of kidnapping six minor girls, taking advantage of their young age and luring them to his house and private clinic where they were sexually assaulted while they were told that they were receiving treatment.

The wife is accused of assisting him in the crimes and attending some of the meetings with the victims.

The prosecution stated that it gathered evidence for the case through the testimonies of the victims and 12 witnesses as well as evidence found in the house of the defendants including chats, images and videos on their phones and laptops, written messages from the victims and CDs with sexual videos of the victims.

The prosecution also found that the defendant published a booklet claiming that he has an academic degree which he in fact did not hold and that he did not officially register his clinic according to the official statements.

Accusations against the couple began to resurface online in September when Facebook pages and Instagram accounts specialised in supporting the victims of sexual harassment and assaults began to speak about an alleged psychiatrist who used to drag and sexually assault Coptic Christian girls from rural villages who came to Cairo seeking medical help.

In 2014, officials from the Egyptian Coptic Orthodox Church issued a warning about the defendant after receiving complaints about his bizarre actions that included turning teenagers against their families in a cultish way.

The defendant, in his 50s, presents himself in TV shows as psychiatrist specialised in helping youth and teenagers.
