Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi ordered on Saturday a revamp of Al-Fustat Garden in Old Cairo to restore the urban nature of the area and increase its landscaping.

According to a statement by the presidency, El-Sisi ordered for the rehabilitation of the area to integrate with the development of nearby Ain El-Sira lake project and the National Museum of Egyptian Civilisation (NMEC).

His directives come during a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Housing Minister Assem El-Gazzar.

The meeting tackled the implementation status of several national projects, including new cities, roads, utilities, housing and the development of slums.

He then gave a brief on developmental projects in several areas in Greater Cairo, including the upgrade of 6 October City, Al-Warraq Islamic, and the full rehabilitation of Historic Cairo to turn it into a historical tourist hub with integrated services.

El-Sisi ordered a dependency on new work mechanisms implemented on national projects - in the past years - that are outside of the traditional bureaucratic scope in planning and implementation.

He was briefed on the implementation status of utilities and services in New Assiut, New Aswan, New Mansoura and the ongoing development in the Upper Egyptian governorate of Assiut.

This was in addition to being briefed on the construction status of the New Administrative Capital, including its residential neighbourhoods, governmental district, business district and public employees' residences, at the nearby Badr City.

The implementation status in New Alamein with it's skyscrapers, residential districts and complexes as well as other services in the city were also discussed.
