Minister of Emigration and Expatriates Affairs Soha Gendy
Minister Gendy explained that 5,000 Egyptians are studying in Sudan and most of them are in the capital Khartoum.
The total number of Egyptians in the country is around 10,000, she explained.
The emigration ministry is maintaining round-the-clock communication with students and the leaders of the Egyptian community in the country, Gendy stressed.
The ministry is also coordinating with the Egyptian embassy in Khartoum and all relevant authorities in Sudan to ensure the safety of all Egyptians in the country, she added.
Gendy has called an emergency meeting of the National Committee for Monitoring the Affairs of Students Abroad to determine the status of Egyptian students in Sudan and prepare a report for a comprehensive plan for their evacuation.
The minister urged the Egyptian community in Sudan to comply with the safety instructions issued earlier today by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and also by the Egyptian embassy in Khartoum amid fierce clashes in the capital and elsewhere in the country.
