Tasnim reported that Iran held talks with Egypt last week to resume tourism between the two countries, adding that a delegation from the Egyptian tourism ministry is expected to visit Tehran soon.
The talks to resume tourism between the two countries have been mediated by Iraq, according to Tasnim.
The announcement by Tasnim comes amid thawing in relations between Cairo and Tehran in recent months.
In late May, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said his country welcomes the restoration of relations with Egypt, which have been severed since the Islamic Revolution in 1979.
Two months earlier, Egypt eased tourist visa requirements for Iran nationals, allowing Iranians who wish to visit South Sinai to obtain a visa upon arrival.
In mid-March, the Egyptian presidency welcomed the Saudi-Iranian deal to resume diplomatic ties between the two countries, describing it as an “important step" to remove points of tension in the region.
The presidency also expressed hope that Tehran would "pursue a policy that takes into account the legitimate concerns of the countries of the region."
