Egypt aims to take advantage of significant occasions and activities taking place during the EPL games to promote Egypt's tourist destinations through distinctive offers, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.

The authority will run two-minute commercials on big electronic screens in various stadiums hosting EPL games.

EGAT hopes to draw a sizable influx of visitors to experience Egypt's rich history and different tourism offerings by capitalising on the English Premier League's enormous viewership, read the statement.

Amr El-Qadi, the authority's CEO, noted that the two-minute ads will reach millions of EPL fans because the league has the largest viewership of any football competition in the world.

Meanwhile, Mohamed Mohsen, the tourism attaché at the Egyptian Tourism Office in London, stressed that these advertisements aim to promote promising Egyptian tourist destinations such as the Red Sea resort of Marsa Alam, the Mediterranean city of New Alamein, and Abu Simbel in Aswan.

More than seven million tourists visited Egypt during the first six months of 2023, and the country anticipates receiving a total of 15 million visitors in 2023, a figure which would surpass the 14.7 million record set in 2010.

The number of tourists who visited the country in 2022 increased by a whopping 46.2 percent over 2021 figures, reaching 11.7 million in 2022, up from eight million in 2021.

In January, the government eased visa requirements for travellers from several countries, including China, Iran, India, Turkey, Morocco, Algeria and Israel.

Egypt has also extended the visa duration from a one-month allowance to three months for yacht tourists and simplified visa application procedures online.

Moreover, EgyptAir, the country's national carrier, has recently launched new routes to multiple destinations in Asia, Europe, and North America.
