MENA , Sunday 16 Jun 2024

Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Assem El-Gazzar asserted on Saturday that the government has planted more than 46,000 fruitful and non-fruitful trees and palm trees in the Capital Park in the New Administrative Capital (NAC).

The 10 km long park spans an area of more than 1,000 feddans and provides entertainment places with global standards.

This unique project, implemented for the first time in Egypt, presents a new style of entertainment projects that ensure good quality of living for Egyptian citizens, Minister El-Gazzar said in a statement.

He added that 65 percent of this area is green, while the remaining 35 percent includes water, sports, and cultural facilities.

In June, the Ministry of Local Development allocated EGP 98 million to plant three million trees nationwide during the fiscal year 2023/2024.

The step comes as part of the second phase of the presidential initiative to cultivate 100 million trees.

This will double the green area nationwide while adapting to the climatic conditions of each governorate, especially with the rising temperatures this summer.
