This dedication is part of the Armed Forces' integrated work system, relying on the latest global armament systems in combat aviation, Abdel-Gawad added in a statement issued on Sunday.
He congratulated the Air Force personnel from various specializations on Air Force Day, commemorating one of the most heroic battles the Air Force fought.
According to the statement, on the morning of 14 October, when the enemy attempted to attack airbases and airports stationed in the Delta region, and despite their numerical and qualitative superiority, the eagles of the Egyptian Air Force taught the enemy a harsh lesson they would never forget.
In addition, Abdel-Gawad explained in his statement how the valiant eagles of the Air Force engaged the enemy in the longest air battle which lasted more than 50 minutes. By the end, the enemy had lost 18 aircraft. The rest fled, unable to continue fighting. This battle, known as the "Battle of Mansoura," became a beacon and an enduring symbol, proving that with God’s help, we can always defeat anyone who attempts to threaten the resources of our resilient people, he added.
Furthermore, Abdel-Gawad highlighted the political leadership and the General Command of the Armed Forces' continuous support for the Air Force to enhance and modernize its capabilities.
He said a comprehensive plan has been developed based on a strategic vision to equip the Air Force with modern aircraft, strengthening its ability to protect Egypt's skies and support the pillars of Egypt’s national security.
Abdel-Gawad also congratulated Air Force personnel on Air Force Day, praising their efforts in protecting Egypt across all strategic directions in compliance with the vision of the political leadership and the General Command of the Armed Forces.
In conclusion, he urged them to continue working tirelessly, day and night, to safeguard the Air Force's achievements under all circumstances.
