Cairo-Cape Town road
Egypt has assumed a leading role in Africa, building on its historical contributions to African nations' development and preserving their cultural heritage.
As part of its strategic vision, Egypt is advancing the completion of the Cairo-Cape Town road, a significant transportation route which aims to enhance connectivity across the continent.
This ambitious project is key to strengthening trade and economic ties with African countries, including South Africa.
The Cairo-Cape Town road launched by Egypt in June 2015 is integral to the country's broader initiatives to improve regional infrastructure and trade.
The road spans 10,288 kilometres and passes through nine African countries, including Sudan, Kenya, and South Africa. It is expected to greatly facilitate trade under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
The project, estimated to cost around $18 billion, is being implemented in four phases.
