Iran, Italy praise Egypt efforts in reaching Gaza ceasefire agreement

Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty discussed Thursday with his Iranian and Italian counterparts, Abbas Araghchi and Antonio Tajani, the latest developments in Gaza, where they praised Egypt's efforts in reaching a ceasefire agreement and facilitating the exchange of captives and detainees.

During separate phone calls, the Egyptian FM highlighted the efforts Cairo exerted, coordinating with Qatar and the US, to reach the agreement, according to the Egyptian foreign ministry.

He emphasised the importance of immediately implementing all phases of the agreement without delay, stressing that all parties must adhere to its terms according to the agreed timeline.  

Abdelatty also highlighted the urgent need for the rapid, sustainable and expansive delivery of humanitarian and medical aid to all areas of Gaza to alleviate the Palestinians' suffering.  

The Egyptian FM further underscored the pivotal role of the international community in rebuilding Gaza, rehabilitating its infrastructure, and restoring security and stability for the Palestinian people.

According to the Egyptian foreign ministry, Abdelatty and his Iranian counterpart discussed reducing tensions in the Red Sea and their impact on maritime security during the last year.

Abdelatty expressed hope that the Gaza ceasefire agreement would restore regional stability, reduce tensions in the Red Sea, and ensure the freedom of international navigation.
