Egypt PM delivers El-Sisi invitation to Kuwaiti emir for emergency Arab summit

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly delivered President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi’s invitation to Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah on Sunday to attend the 4 March emergency Arab summit in Cairo.

PM Madbouly arrived in Kuwait City earlier on Sunday to meet Sheikh Meshal.

During their meeting, the prime minister expressed President El-Sisi's aspiration that the Kuwaiti emir participate in this timely and critical summitaccording to the Egyptian cabinet. 

Sheikh Meshal, for his part, welcomed the invitation and expressed his eagerness to attend the summit.

The Cairo summit, held at the request of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, will discuss developments in the Palestinian cause. It follows Friday's informal Riyadh meeting about Gaza.

In another meeting with Kuwaiti Crown Prince Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah, Madbouly reiterated Cairo's stance, affirming the urgency of rebuilding Gaza without deporting the Palestinians from their land.

He also stressed Egypt's commitment to support the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, particularly their right to establish an independent state along the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Moreover, Madbouly emphasized the importance of having a unified Arab stance, looking forward to ensuring security and stability across all Arab countries and ending the ongoing regional crises.

Meanwhile, the Kuwaiti crown prince affirmed the importance of reaching a unified Arab plan for Gaza reconstruction during the Cairo summit, urging coordination to serve the best interests of Arab nations.

He expressed his eagerness to see Egypt presenting its plan for Gaza reconstruction, ensuring the legitimate rights and interests of the Palestinian people while preserving their presence in their homeland.

Additionally, the crown prince praised Egypt's leadership in wisely addressing Arab issues and its contributions through initiatives that bring the Arab nation together despite ongoing regional challenges.

He also stressed the importance of unity while addressing the successive regional challenges.

Egyptian-Kuwaiti relations
 

During his meeting with Madbouly, the Kuwaiti emir discussed the historical ties between the two countries, noting that Egypt has supported Kuwait since its beginnings.

"Kuwait will always remember the assistance Egypt had provided in the past," he said.

He also acknowledged Egypt’s historical role in supporting Kuwait’s security and stability.

The Kuwaiti leader emphasized that the stability of both countries is directly linked, noting that any assistance his country provides to the Egyptian people also serves the interests of the Kuwaiti people.

Furthermore, he highlighted the alignment of Egyptian and Kuwaiti perspectives on regional issues and their ongoing efforts to ensure regional security and stability.

Economic ties
 

PM Madbouly also affirmed to the Kuwaiti emir that Egypt welcomes Kuwaiti investments and is committed to supporting Kuwaiti investors in its market.

He further reviewed the country’s ongoing efforts to support investment and create a favourable business environment to attract new investments despite regional challenges.

The prime minister also expressed Egypt's appreciation for Kuwait's support over the years, reaffirming its admiration for Kuwaiti domestic reform efforts.

Similarly, the emir acknowledged Egypt’s significant contributions, including sending experts who have supported the country's development across various sectors.

He also praised President El-Sisi’s leadership in the ongoing urban development across Egypt.

Moreover, the Kuwaiti crown prince highlighted the numerous bilateral agreements between Egypt and Kuwait in various fields.

He also praised the role of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, the world's most influential Sunni Islamic institution, as a centre of moderate Islamic thought in the Arab world.

Madbouly also discussed issues of mutual interest with his Kuwaiti counterpart, Ahmad Abdullah Al-Sabah, to explore additional areas of cooperation.

The Egyptian cabinet added that Madbouly will also hold additional high-level meetings with senior Kuwaiti officials during his visit.
