During the meeting, PM Madbouly praised Spain’s consistent stance on the Palestinian cause.
He reiterated the country's rejection of any attempt to displace Palestinians and confirmed support for a two-state solution based on the 4 June 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as the capital of an independent Palestinian state.
The premier stated that Egypt aims to build on this progress by encouraging Spanish investment, especially in infrastructure, transport, renewable energy, and green hydrogen.
He invited Spanish companies to explore investment opportunities in the country's infrastructure development projects, including roads, ports, and industrial zones, such as the Suez Canal Economic Zone, which offers access to regional markets through Egypt’s free trade agreements.
Spanish investments in Egypt have totalled € 882.93 million as of July 2024.
The Prime Minister underlined to King Felipe VI the potential for broader cooperation through new agreements between Egypt and Spain in tourism, given Spain’s global standing in the industry.
Additionally, Madbouly invited King Felipe VI, along with the Spanish prime minister and senior officials, to attend the grand opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) in November.
