All polling stations in the governorates taking part in the first phase of Egypt’s House of Representatives elections opened on Tuesday morning, except one station in Badrasheen, Giza, Counsellor Ahmed Bendary, executive director of the National Election Authority (NEA), announced.

Speaking at a press conference to review the progress of the second day of voting, Bendary said the NEA is investigating the reason for the delay at the Badrasheen station to ensure that voters can cast their ballots there.

He added that the voting process is running smoothly across all governorates included in the first phase and called on citizens to participate and choose their representatives in the new parliament.

Bendary noted that the NEA’s central operations room continues to monitor the election and provide updates to the public.

He confirmed that voting will continue until 9pm, the official closing time for polling stations, with extensions allowed where voters remain inside the premises.

Ballot counting will begin afterwards, and participation figures will be announced, though final results will be released later.

The first phase of the 2025 House of Representatives elections covers 14 governorates: Giza, Beni Suef, Minya, Assiut, Sohag, Qena, Luxor, Aswan, the Red Sea, the New Valley, Fayoum, Alexandria, Matrouh, and Beheira.

About 35 million citizens are eligible to vote in this phase. The second phase will take place on 21–22 November for Egyptians abroad and on 24–25 November inside Egypt, covering the remaining 13 governorates.
