Egypt’s Ministry of Education and Technical Education has launched a new digital platform, Rehla, to regulate school visits to archaeological sites and museums across the country.

The move follows a sharp rise in student visits to cultural landmarks after the inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum, prompting authorities to introduce new organizational measures.

Developed in coordination with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the Rehla platform will handle bookings for free school trips organized by public and language schools.

The system aims to prevent overcrowding, improve student experiences, and promote greater awareness of Egypt’s cultural and archaeological heritage.

Under new regulations issued to education directorates, starting 1 November 2025, public and language schools at the primary and preparatory levels will not be allowed entry to museums or archaeological sites without prior booking through the platform.

Schools must adhere to their allotted time slots, as early or late arrivals will not be permitted.

Each institution will also be required to comply with the approved number of visitors per group.

Requests to exceed the booked quota will be denied, even if schools offer to pay additional fees.

Schools are required to print the confirmation message received via email, stamped with the official state emblem, as no school will be admitted without it.

Private and secondary schools are excluded from the Rehla system and may continue to purchase entry tickets directly at the sites.

The ministry clarified that the school’s worker—registered as the trip coordinator in the ministry’s database—will be responsible for booking through the platform.

Schools facing technical issues may seek assistance from their local education administration or directorate.

Additionally, starting November 14, 2025, tickets for school visits to popular sites such as the Giza Pyramids, the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir, and the Citadel of Salah al-Din in Cairo—on Fridays and Saturdays—will be available exclusively online through the official website Rehla Portal | بوابة رحلة

On-site student ticket sales will be suspended on those days to reduce congestion and enhance safety.
