The drills involved units from the Egyptian Thunderbolt Forces and the Omani Special Forces, with a focus on exchanging expertise and enhancing joint operational capabilities.
Training activities included non-traditional live-fire exercises from various shooting positions, demonstrating participants’ accuracy and ability to engage targets while stationary and on the move.
The final phase featured a simulated raid on a terrorist hideout inside a residential area using helicopters. The drill included freeing hostages, arresting terrorist elements, providing first aid, rescuing the injured, and restoring control over the area.
Major General Staff Abdel-Kader Emara Habib, Commander of the Thunderbolt Forces, delivered a speech conveying the greetings of Lieutenant General Ashraf Salem Zaher, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defence and Military Production, and Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, to the participating troops.
Habib stressed the importance of the exercise in exchanging expertise and familiarizing personnel with the latest special forces combat tactics. He also praised the readiness and efficiency shown by the participating elements in carrying out joint missions.
The closing phase was attended by several commanders from the Egyptian and Omani armed forces, as well as the Omani military attaché in Cairo.
