Book Alert: Goethe Institute celebrates literary Cairo

Goethe Institute holds two-day festival to celebrate choice of Cairo as city of publishing alongside New York, Barcelona, Prague, Istanbul, Buenos Aires and Athens

Writers from Germany and Egypt, including Khaled El-Khamisi, Ibrahim Abdel-Meguied and Mansour Ezzeddine, will appear at the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in Zamalek on Tuesday 19 November at 7pm to discuss the challenges of writing.

The event is held as part of the Goethe Institute Festival. Cairo was chosen along with New York, Barcelona, Prague, Istanbul, Buenos Aires and Athens to be part of the Berlin Literary Forum.

German writers will gather on Monday 18 November at 6:30pm at Al-Amir Taz Palace in Sayyida Zeinab to read anthologies of their most recent works.

Both events will have instant translations.
