The US acknowledges that there is no quick solutions for the Arab-Israeli conflict, the US ambassador to Egypt said during a media roundtable held at the US embassy in Cairo today.
"But to have successful negotiations, the Palestinians should both know what are they negotiating for, and acknowlege Israel's need for security," said Ambassador Margaret Scobey.
"A two-state solution guaranteeing two secure [nations], abiding by the 1967 borders, will be no easy task," said Scobey.
"As was clear during Obama speech, the USA looks at the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as a top priority."
She added that for negotiations to succeed, Palestinians have to agree to negotiate, and Israel should stop settlement building.
