Israeli occupation forces have shot and injured a young Palestinian man near Ramallah on Saturday morning.
Israeli army spokesperson said that Mohamed Nessim Youssef stabbed and lightly injured an Israeli soldier, Maan Palestinian news agency reported on Saturday.
Sources at the Palestinian Red Crescent Society said that Youssef was shot twice in the hand.
A Palestinian ambulance rushed to the scene and provided treatment to Youssef.
Israeli occupation soldiers later arrested the Palestinian man and transported him to Jerusalem.
Ramallah is home to the headquarters of the Palestinian Authority.
The West Bank has witnessed clashes and protests between Palestinians and occupation forces in recent months over repeated settler storming of Al-Aqsa mosque.
Anger intensified after Jewish settlers firebombed a family home on 31 July in the Palestinian city of Douma, resulting in the death of 18-month-old Ali Dawabsha, who was trapped inside.
A few days later, Sa’ad Dawabsha, father of the toddler, died of wounds he sustained during the arson.
To curb Palestinian protests, the Knesset, or Israeli Parliament, recently passed a law that sentences Palestinian stone-throwers to up to twenty years in prison.
