Low ranking officials in the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) are responsible for leaking hundreds of documents to Al-Jazeera on peace talks between Israel and Palestine, said Yasser Abd Raboo, a senior Palestinian official, on Monday.
He added that the leaks will jeopardize Palestinian president position on the peace talks. Abd Raboo was speaking in a press conference in Ramallah held in response to the disclosure by Al-Jazeera Sunday night of the leaked documents.
Meanwhile, Palestinian sources told Ahram Online, on the condition of anonymity, that PLO leaders will hold an urgent meeting to discuss the political and security impact of the leak as well as how to manage them.
Some Israeli commentators said the leaked documents expose to the international community how Tel Aviv is responsible for the failure of peace negotiations.
“Al-Jazeera's documents are real evidence that there is Palestinian partner serious about making peace with Israel,” said professor Eyal Zes, an Israeli expert, in an open editorial published in Walla Hebrew news website.
He added the leaked documents are an opportunity for Arabs to know what their leaders really say behind closed doors.
