Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp suffered outages today that lasted for a few hours

A Facebook spokesperson has issued an apology to users of the Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp for an outage that happened earlier today.

The spokesperson said in a press release sent to Ahram Online via PR representatives in the Middle East that, "We are aware that users experienced difficulty in accessing our group of apps and have taken immediate measures and were able to fix the problem."

"We apologise for any disruptions," the spokerperson said.

Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp suffered outages today at 6:28, 6:33, 6:58 EST respectively that lasted for a few hours according to downdetector.com.

The website, which monitors problems in social media networks and other large sites, received thousands of reports by users around the globe on the outage.

The outage appears to have been fixed as users can log in to the affected apps without issue.
