A tripartite agreement was signed by Karim Kamel, head of fixed internet services and urban communities at Vodafone Egypt; Safy Wahba, the founder and chairman of Al-Safy Group; and Frodo Rao, the chairman of Green Packet.

"This agreement represents an important step towards supporting local manufacturing and enhancing the telecommunications industry by localizing technology. We are committed to fostering innovation, sustainable growth, and contributing to building a strong digital future that supports the national economy and benefits Egyptian citizens,” said Kamel.

“What we have witnessed in terms of equipment and expertise at Al-Safy Group is a source of enthusiasm for transferring the necessary technological know-how to kickstart local manufacturing in Egypt. This partnership aims to support local industry and help it reach regional markets with the latest technologies in a short time,” stated Rao.

For his part, Wahba stated that Al-Safy will use its expertise and resources to promote the projects as this is the first phase of a wider initiative in the telecommunications sector in Egypt.

In early September, Vodafone Egypt announced its collaboration with Huawei in September to develop a new software algorithm that detects and suppresses interference sources in coastal and desert areas.
