Head of the Russian Language Department at the Faculty of Alsun Mohamed Nasr El-Gebaly was honoured from Moscow after his return to Egypt and the end of his term of office as head of the Egyptian educational mission in Russia
The Egyptian Association of Graduates from Russian and Soviet Universities organised a group Ramadan Iftar on 8 May at the Russian Cultural Centre in Cairo.
Attending were Aleksey Tevanyan, head of the Russian Cultural Centre in Cairo and counsellor of the Russian Embassy; Political advisor to the Russian Embassy Maxim Rubin, along with Russian Consul Autaev Turpal.
Sherif Gad, head of the Association and the Arab Union for Graduates of Russian and Soviet Universities, was also present, along with Fathy Toughan, secretary-general of the association; Magdy Zaabal, head of the Egyptian-Uzbek Friendship Association; Mohamed Hanafy El-Gebaly, member of the board of directors of the Egyptian-Russian Friendship Association; as well as Samia Tawfiq, member of the board of directors of the association.
After Iftar, Nasr El-Gebaly was honoured after the end of his term of office and his return to Egypt, with Gad and Toughan presenting him with the Alumni Association Shield, while Tevanyan granted him a certificate of appreciation from the Federal Agency for International Humanitarian Cooperation, Commonwealth Country Affairs, and Diaspora Affairs.
Tevanyan pointed out that Nasr El-Gebaly’s work in Moscow had a great impact on the development of cultural relations between Egypt and Russia, and that his tremendous and influential contributions contributed to the development of human relations between the two countries.
Whereas Toughan praised the services provided by Nasr El-Gebaly to the Egyptian envoys in Russia, as he allowed, for the first time, access to services related to their studies through the Internet, which contributed to saving effort and relieving the hardship of travel for these students who live in many provinces in Russia.
For his part, Nasr El-Gebaly expressed his happiness for this honour and thanked the Alumni Association and the Russian side, confirming his contentment to work in Russia and that what has been presented and will be presented in the future confirms that Egyptian-Russian relations await broad prospects for human and cultural development between the two friendly countries.
