Last days of 16th Arab Theatre Festival
10 to 16 January across several theatres in Cairo
The festival is organized by the Arab Theatre Authority in partnership with Egypt’s Ministry of Culture, and brings together a diverse selection of contemporary Arab stage works — from classic reinterpretations to bold new creations — drawn from over 150 submissions across the Arab world.
Audiences are offered a rich programme of competitive and non-competitive performances, intellectual seminars, and workshops.

Gazaga - music

Gazaga is an independent Egyptian band emerging from the underground scene. Their style is described as Oriental rock or Egyptian alternative music, with a particular focus on Nubian heritage.
Gazaga stands out for its often poetic and socially engaged lyrics. Their songs tackle social issues, Egyptian identity, and everyday challenges with a thoughtful perspective, sometimes tinged with satire.

Nos Darba - music

Nos Darba Band is a music group producing a fusion of Middle Eastern/Arabic traditions with modern elements.
Their songs include covers or reinterpretations of classics, often collaborating with various artists. They perform tracks such as Goumari, Ya Zarif Al Toll, Tanja El Alya, and numerous covers of known hits.
Their work emphasizes melodic vocals and instrumental richness, appealing to fans of both traditional and contemporary Arabic music.
Tamer Hosny - music

A pop singer, songwriter, and actor, Tamer Hosny began his career in 2002. He first came to public attention when he appeared on mixtapes with Sherine. He has become one of the biggest pop celebrities in Egypt and the Arab region.
Hosny released over 13 top-selling albums. His songs appeared in several television series. Apart from his solo performances across the Arab region, Hosny also collaborated with international artists such as Snoop Dogg and Shaggy and Arab musicians like Rim Banna, Latifa, Souad Massi, and Ramy Sabry.
Amr Diab - music

Amr Diab is among the most prominent and regionally recognised pop singers, drawing crowds of thousands to his live concerts and ranking as one of the most listened-to artists on streaming platforms.
With over 30 albums and a huge collection of regional and international trophies and awards throughout his four-decade career, the megastar, dubbed as El-Haddaba (The Hill) by fans, maintains an ever-growing fan base.
Bahgaga - music
Friday 16 January, 7pm
El-Sawy Culturewheel, River Hall, 26th of July street, Zamalek, Cairo
Bahgaga band will perform Shokoko, an Egyptian actor and artist who is considered an icon of Egyptian popular.
Led by seven instrumentalists and five female singers, Bahgaga is an all-female band that presents comedy monlogues and joyful songs in oriental tunes.
Comedy monologues that resemble comic skits are especially known to the audience, as they were once performed by Egyptian late comedians Ismail Yassin and Mahmoud Shokoko.
The band was founded in 2015 by composer Ayman Helmy who is also the band’s music director and composes their repertoire.
Cairo Classical Ensemble - music

Cairo Opera House, small hall, Zamalek, Cairo
Cairo Classical Ensemble performs music from the Western classical music repertoire.
The ensemble will feature Wessam Ahmed on oboe, accompanied by Laura Virtanen and Mohamed Sharara on violin, Bahy Tamer on viola, and Mary Khalaf on cello.
