Mon 5, 11am-4pm (GMT+2), doors close at 10.55am: As part of AUC SpeakUp Dialog series, the AUC is organizing “MySafeUni Day,” a day full of activities and discussions focused on ensuring university campuses are safe spaces, free of sexual harassment. The event is led by AUC students, alumni and the AUC community as a whole featuring a panel with experts from local and international universities, talks by notable AUC alumni, an interactive audience-led conversation, live performances by AUC’s arts department, and outdoor activities and booths. Professionals include Amira Tawadros, executive manager, Anti Sexual Harassment Unit, Cairo University; Reem El-Mograby, director of Office of Institutional Equity and Title IX coordinator, AUC; Clarissa Humphreys, sexual misconduct prevention and response manager, Durham University and Mitra Tauk, Equity and Title IX coordinator, AUB. The event will be moderated by AUC general counsel and chief compliance officer Sunanda Holmes, and Youssef Hashem, AUC student and president of the AUC Debate Society. The conversation kicks off with AUC’s Debate Society presenting student views. The event will also include an interactive audience-led conversation on what harassment means lead by AUC faculty and students; live theatre performances by AUC’s Department of Arts; and talks by AUC notable alumni, including Omar Samra ’00, adventurer, entrepreneur and motivational speaker; Gala El-Hadidi ’05 ’07, international mezzo-soprano; Tarek El-Ebiary '12, actor; and Ahmed Alaa Fayed ’13, ’13, assistant professor of management and public policy at Nile University. There will also be outdoor activities and booths by AUC students and several NGOs, such as E7na Foundation, The Community Hub, Safe Kids and Heya Masr.

The full day of activities includes: 

11am-12.30pm: “Universities Unite: Combatting Harassment on Campus” Professionals in anti-harassment offices from AUC, the American University of Beirut, Cairo University and other institutions share challenges and best practices. The conversation kicks off with AUC’s Debate Society presenting student views.
1-2pm: “Wait, Is That Harassment?”, an interactive, audience conversation. It’s your turn to talk. Join students and Hania Sholkamy ’85, ’89, AUC associate professor, in a conversation to explore what sexual harassment means.
Alumni SpeakUp Talks: An Alum, A Stage and A Microphone. 

2-3pm: Inspirational alumni share their personal experiences and insights on sexual harassment, why it matters and what it means to each of them. The event is conducted in English with simultaneous translation into Arabic.

Tues 6, 7-8pm (GMT+2): This CEMS Global Leadership Series features RiseUp Founder and CEO Abdel-Hameed Sharara. This session focuses on how to lead with an entrepreneurial mindset and seeks to inspire the youth to consider entrepreneurship as a career choice to lead global innovations. Italian Cultural Institute 

Italy is celebrating the 700th death anniversary of Dante Alighieri, from 12 March to 4 July 2021. So, the Italian Institute continues to post videos in Arabic with translations from Dante Alighieri’s masterpiece The Divine Comedy to bring the Arab-speaking public closer to the work of the supreme poet. Videos are directed by Giabluca Barbadori, with the special participation of Ashraf Farouk, Amir Salaheddin, Sherine Hegazy, and Sara El Mokadem.
