Finswimming is an underwater sport consisting of four techniques involving swimming with the use of fins either on the water’s surface or using a snorkel.

“We are working with all our strength to present the championship in a way that reflects Egypt’s prestigious image. We have carefully selected the finest athletes through a series of trials, with the clear goal of continuing the journey that began last year in Marseille, where we proudly claimed first place,” Al-Shazli said.

He said Egypt will compete in all events, including monofins, bi-fins and relays, stressing that the squad had already entered a closed training camp in Alexandria with sessions both in the sea and in swimming pools to ensure full readiness.

On the level of competition, Al-Shazli said, “We expect tough competition from Greece, Colombia, Italy, and Russia, all of which have confirmed their participation. Nevertheless, we are confident that the Pharaohs are fully prepared to defend their title and shine once again.”

The federation president also said the championship was attracting widespread interest. “Registration is open until the end of September, and we anticipate around 20 countries will take part, including strong participation from Arab and African nations.”

On the organisational side, Al-Shazli emphasised the federation’s efforts to create the best possible conditions. “We made sure that all delegations stay in the same hotel and on the same beach. This way, no time or energy is wasted on transportation, and the athletes can remain fully focused on their performances.”

Al-Shazli praised the “unwavering support” of the Egyptian government, adding that Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhi had been “fully supportive” and had promised to attend the opening ceremony on 8 October.

President of the Egyptian Olympic Committee Yasser Idris will also be present, alongside the president of the International Federation.

As for the competition’s schedule, Al-Shazli explained that juniors and seniors will compete on 9, 10 and 11 October while the masters’ events will be held on 12 and 13 October.

Al-Shazli highlighted the significance of recent achievements. “Winning the Arab and African championships was an important milestone in our preparation for the World Championship. I am confident our athletes will continue to bring pride to Egypt and raise the national flag high on the international stage.”
