The Whites have not made it through the group stage of the African CL for the second year in a row, and are yet to grab a first win in the six-match phase.
Wydad of Morocco (12 points) and Petro Atletico of Angola (11 points) have sealed their passage to the knock out phase, leaving Zamalek (3 points) and Sagrada (2 points) to lick their wounds.
Zamalek drew 0-0 with Sargada in their first game in Angola last month.
Coach Jesualdo Ferreira will also be looking to get his first win at the club since his return in early March.
The team lost to Wydad 1-0 then was held to a scoreless draw by Petro Atletico.
“Unfortunately, we did not qualify but still this game is important for us ahead of the upcoming period. We are still competing for the Egyptian league title and we also have the domestic cup. This game is also an important chance for some players who did not get enough playing time recently,” Ferreira told the pre-game news conference.
“We could not prepare the team well for this game since many players were out on international duties. I could not also get the players to overcome [the feeling of failure] to reach the World Cup, but it will go with time passing,” the Portuguese tactician added.
Zamalek's six international players, who were included in Egypt’s squad that was knocked out by Senegal in the World Cup qualifiers playoffs game earlier this week, all reported back to training on Thursday after their return from Dakar on Wednesday.
The six are Mohamed Abou Gabal, Mahmoud Alaa, Mahmoud “El Wensh” Hamdi, Emam Ashour, Ahmed Fattouh, and Ahmed El Sayed “Zizo”.
However, Ashour, Fattouh and Zizo, who played in the game against Senegal on Tuesday night, will be rested from the Sargada game.
