The first leg of the round of 32 game between Ahly and the Tunisian side will be played away from home on 9 October, while the second leg will be played in Cairo a week later.
“Afsha and Sherif are ready for the friendly game against Aswan on Sunday. Both players performed normally in recent trainings after finishing their rehabilitation programs,” Ahly doctor Ahmed Abu-Abla was quoted as saying by the club’s official website.
Sherif, 26, had suffered a muscular injury in late July.
Meanwhile, Afsha, 26, underwent hernia surgery in August.
On wednesday, the Red Devils defeated Petrojet 5-1 in their first friendly game this summer under new Swiss coach Marcel Koller.
The team will face Talae El-Geish in another summer friendly on Thursday.
No where to go but up!
Ahly had a season to forget last year.
The Red Devils finished in third place in the Egyptian Premier League last year, their worst in the prestigious domestic competition in 30 years.
The team also failed to win a 2020/2021 Egypt Cup title after losing to archrivals Zamalek in the final match 1-2 last July.
Moreover, the 10-time African champions failed to capitalise on a golden opprtunity to win a record-three-consecutive Champions League titles after losing to Morocco's Wydad in the final match in Casablanca last May.
Management has made several important signings during the summer transfer window in hopes of returning to winning titles.
