Ahmed Sami has been coaching Ceramica Cleopatra since May 2022 but was shown the exit door following a poor run of the team this season. Ceramica Cleopatra are 10th on the 18-team table with 17 points after 15 games.

He had just signed his return to Smouha on Thursday morning to replace Tarek El-Ashry, who was sacked due to differences with the club’s president Farag Amer.

El-Ashry was named Smouha coach at the beginning of the season, but also could not make the needed impact, causing a fallout with Amer.

Like Sami, he inked a new deal with Pharco FC, just hours after leaving Smouha, to become their third manager of the season.

Pharco FC also parted ways with former Egypt coach Ehab Galal on Tuesday after just one month in charge. Galal had succeeded Portuguese tactician Nuno Almeida.

Earlier in the day, Zamalek also sacked Portuguese manager Jesualdo Ferreira, who led them to claiming back-to-back league titles for the first time in two decades.

16 coaches

A sacking spree has been taking place among Premier League clubs, with 16 managers fired since the beginning of the season, before reaching the halfway point of the season.

Only Ahly, Future FC, Ittihad of Alexandria, Arab Contractors, Dakhleya and Harras El Hodoud have kept their coaches unchanged.

Clubs that have made several changes include Masry, Pharco, Enppi, Ismaily, and NBE Club.

Others seem on the line, as Ayman El-Ramadi and Ahmed "Mido" Hossam do not seem settled at Aswan and Ismaily respectively.

The Egyptian Premier League has adopted a new regulation this season to limit the swapping of coaches, banning any coach who resigns from his job from going to another Premier League team in the same season.

However, this new measure was to no avail, as the clubs and coaches have resorted to different methods like amicably resolving contracts or forcing clubs to fire them to avoid this restriction.
