The three were involved in a physical altercation with a stadium organiser at Al Nahyan Stadium during Zamalek’s Egyptian Super Cup semi-final win over Pyramids FC on Sunday.
The White Knights advanced to the final after a tense penalty shoot-out.
Following the altercation, Shalaby, Emad, and El Sayed were summoned to a police station in Abu Dhabi to give statements.
However, they remained in custody, pending an urgent court session scheduled for Wednesday.
“The trio—Abdel-Wahed El Sayed, Mostafa Shalaby, and Nabil Emad—have been referred to trial, with an urgent session set for tomorrow,” Salem stated.
In light of the incident, club president Hussein Labib plans to meet with Hossam El-Mandouh, head of the UAE delegation, and other board members to discuss whether Zamalek should withdraw from the Super Cup and return to Cairo due to the pressure and unfavourable conditions.
“There is instability. After the crisis is resolved, we will make the right decision,” said El-Mandouh, who also revealed that the Abu Dhabi Sports Council had paid the financial penalty imposed on the trio.
Despite the disruption, Zamalek are still scheduled to face rivals Ahly, who defeated Ceramica Cleopatra 2-1 in the other sem-final, in the Super Cup final on Thursday.
