Zamalek will participate in the Egyptian Super Cup final against Ahly, confirmed the club’s treasurer, Hossam El-Mandouh, on Tuesday, despite the ongoing legal problems surrounding some of the team's members.

Following Zamalek’s penalty shootout victory over Pyramids FC in the Super Cup semi-final on Sunday, a physical altercation occurred between Zamalek players Mostafa Shalaby and Nabil Emad, as well as football director Abdel-Wahed El-Sayed, and a stadium organizer at Al Nahyan Stadium.

As a result, Shalaby, Emad, and El-Sayed were detained and summoned to a police station in Abu Dhabi for questioning.

They remain in custody pending a court session scheduled for Wednesday.

In response to the incident, Zamalek's spokesperson, Ahmed Salem, revealed that club president Hussein Labib was in talks with the UAE delegation, including El-Mandouh, and other board members to discuss the possibility of withdrawing from the Super Cup due to the mounting pressure and challenging circumstances.

However, El-Mandouh denied on Tuesday that Zamalek were considering pulling out of the final.

“We have not issued any statement confirming our withdrawal from the Super Cup final. We were only focused on resolving the current crisis. We may request a postponement or reassess the situation, but God willing, the match will go ahead, and we will make our fans proud,” El-Mandouh said.

He also confirmed that the trial session for the detained individuals is scheduled for Wednesday morning, adding that a team of lawyers would attend the hearing to represent Zamalek.

Zamalek are set to face arch-rivals Ahly in the Super Cup final on Thursday.
