Zamalek football director Abdel-Wahed El-Sayed and midfielder Nabil ‘Donga’ Emad as well as winger Mostafa Shalaby — were involved in a physical altercation with a stadium organizer at Al Nahyan Stadium during their semi-final win over Pyramids FC on Sunday 20 October.

The players were detained since Monday 21 October.

According to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Sheikh Mohamed’s pardon underscores his commitment to strengthening UAE-Egypt relations and highlights the enduring ties between the two nations.

Earlier on Tuesday, an Abu Dhabi court had sentenced the three players to one month in prison, with each fined AED 200,000 for assaulting a match organizer.

The Abu Dhabi Primary Court found the Zamalek officials guilty of using force, violence, and threats against a public employee, reportedly to influence the official’s actions.

The altercation reportedly began as an argument between the three Zamalek officials and a member of the organizing staff and escalated into a physical confrontation.
