The Red Devils dominated the competition last season and hope to carry that momentum into this year. The buoyant Cairo giants are riding high after securing back-to-back titles: the African-Asian-Pacific Cup, where they defeated UAE side Al Ain 3-0 in the FIFA Intercontinental Cup, and their 15th Egyptian Super Cup title following a thrilling penalty shootout victory over arch-rivals Zamalek.
Despite his team's success, Ahly coach Marcel Koller expressed concerns about the hectic schedule, highlighting the challenges posed by a packed agenda that leaves little time for preparation.
"From the end of last season to the start of this campaign, we had only a three-week break before diving back into the challenge for new trophies," Koller said in a televised interview.
However, the 63-year-old Swiss tactician remains determined to secure more silverware for the club. "While we aim to win every match, the path is not always smooth. Nevertheless, we are committed to giving our best efforts to reach the final," Koller concluded confidently.
During the summer transfer window, the Red Devils strengthened their squad, signing Moroccan internationals Achraf Dari and Yahia Attiat Allah, defender Ayman Youssef, and midfielder Omar El-Saayi.
On the other hand, Ceramica Cleopatra will be looking to bounce back from a recent 2-1 defeat to Ahly in the Egyptian Super Cup semi-final.
Despite bolstering their roster with several new players, including winger Mahmoud Abdelhafiz "Zalaka," South African forward Fagrie Lakay, defender Abdallah Magdi, and midfielder Islam Issa from Pyramids FC in exchange for Nigerian winger Sodiq Awujoola, Ceramica struggled to make a significant impact last season.
Guided by Ayman El Ramadi, Ceramica will be eager to start the new campaign on a high note after finishing eighth last season.
